On the afternoon of July 20, Ding Chun, Secretary of CPC Tongling Municipal Committee, met with Fu Yao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and his entourage. Ma Jun, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Tongling Municipal Committee and Secretary-General, and Gu Jinsong, Party Secretary and Director of the Administrative Committee of Tongling Economic & Technological Development Zone, attended the meeting.
Ding Chun expressed gratitude for USTC’s long-standing care and support for Tongling and extended a warm welcome to Fu Yao and accompanying entrepreneurs for their inspection tour. He briefly introduced Tongling’s urban profile and its economic and social progress. He noted that Tongling and USTC have laid a solid foundation for cooperation. In recent years, sticking to the innovation-driven development strategy, Tongling has aligned innovation chains with industrial chains, drawn on intellectual resources from top-tier universities and research institutes including USTC, introduced high-caliber scientific talent teams and built high-end innovation platforms to advance industrial transformation and upgrading. He hoped USTC would scale up support for Tongling in scientific research, key technology breakthroughs as well as talent recruitment and cultivation, expand cooperation scope, and facilitate the commercialization and industrialization of more research findings locally. Following the service principle of "prompt response to demands and no unnecessary disturbance", Tongling will deliver efficient and high-quality services and optimize the business environment to enable talents and entrepreneurs to invest, start businesses and live in peace and contentment in Tongling, jointly opening a new chapter for city-university and city-enterprise cooperation.
Fu Yao spoke highly of the progress achieved in city-university cooperation and Tongling’s industrial transformation, and thanked Tongling Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for their sustained support to USTC’s development. He pledged that USTC would leverage its strengths to deepen bilateral cooperation in talent training, commercialization of scientific achievements and project implementation based on existing cooperation foundations, fuel high-quality economic and social development of Tongling and realize win-win coordinated growth for both sides.
During the event, principals of Coremicrofluidics, Leaf Biotechnology and Jingke Biotechnology respectively presented updates on their companies and ongoing projects.
